This week on BMTV we take a look around Spring Fair 2019, which took place last week at the NEC Birmingham. During our visit we spoke to Pioneer Europe Ltd, Party Deco, Amscan, Grabo International, Creative Party, CTI Europe GmbH and Unique Party UK about what trends they think are going to be big in 2019 and what new products they have to offer.

Pioneer Europe Ltd

We first caught up with Mark Drury about upcoming trends and the exciting new products coming up from Qualatex. Mark was very excited about the new compostable partyware which they have developed that comes in an Elephant design and a pre-school dinosaur design which includes cups and plates. There will be also be napkins available – these are currently going through testing and will also be fully compostable. Mark also talked to us about the Space trend and the space themed balloons they have along with a space partyware range and a purple galaxy partyware range.

Qualatex have developed for this year lots of new foil shapes including a graceful swan, narwhal, gold trophy and some fun 42 inch rainbow sunglasses! There is also a new baby foil range including baby boy and baby girl foils with gold script font detail.

Party Deco

There are lots of exciting new partyware designs coming from Party Deco this year and Anna Nowak talked to us about what her favourites are and her trend predictions. She said that Rose Gold will be the biggest trend for this year, and they have lots of rose gold partyware available including cups and plates. Unicorn will also continue to be a big trend this year, along with pastel colours. Anna was very excited about the new space themed and pirate themed partyware ranges they have which are great for both boys and girls!

Amscan

We spoke to Ellie Megram at the Amscan stand which looked very different to last years with a large balloon ceiling or canopy – as Ellie suggested we could call it! Her predictions for the year ahead include ombre, muted tones and some splashes of vibrant colours. Some of the exciting new products from Amscan include the range of coloured ombre Orbz, satin infusion foils, Clearz and coloured iridescent/rainbow iridescent foils that come in rounds, hearts and stars. There are also new pastel satin foils (rounds, hearts and stars) available, along with the amazing new Jumbo Orbz!

Grabo International

It was great to chat with Jonathan Grassi at the Grabo International stand and he shared with us his trend predictions and we talked about the exciting new products Grabo are launching.

One exciting new product is 64 inch numbers, which are made up of two balloons (two valves) and the top half can be filled with helium and the bottom air filled, to cut down the cost of helium used. There are also some pretty pastel coloured foils in round and heart shapes. Jonathan shared his thoughts on trends for 2019, which included pastels, rose gold and lots of sparkly and shiny foils!

Creative Party

At the Creative Party stand we were joined by Mike Forder who showed us some of the exciting new products they have to offer. There are the new rose gold milestone centrepieces, along with rose gold age candles and also lovely iridescent ones too! He also showed us some great paper dog design treat bags that come with stickers you can stick on to create your own design. Mike told us that the Unicorn trend would continue in 2019 and that we would see a lot of mermaid themed products such as their mermaid partyware range including napkins, plates and cups. They also have a Peter Rabbit baking range that includes a cake topper, gift bags, cookie cutter and cupcake cases. There is also an exciting new Game On partyware range available.

CTI Europe

We had a great chat with Manfred Jakobi and Nikki Thompson at the CTI Europe stand, and they shared with us their upcoming new products. They have some great Easter balloons including white and pink 31 inch bunny head foils. They have also developed some 17 inch latex bubbles that come in 7 colours. And one of the biggest trends and something which is high on the agenda for most companies is developing alternatives of plastic products that are biodegradable. For CTI they have come up with the first compostable sticks and cups. They have one bamboo version which has an organic look and then a white one made from 100% Polylactic Acid (PLA) which is a biodegradable bioplastic.

Unique Party

At the Unique Party UK stand we chatted to Holly Burgin about her trend predictions for 2019. Rose Gold she said would continue to be big and they have launched more tableware and accessories this year that come in this colour. They have lots of exciting new products for this year including a glitz milestone range which comes in three colours – pink, blue and black. These ranges include banners, bunting, balloons, candles, sparklers and tableware. They will also be launching a Rose gold milestone range mid-year.

There is also a great new ‘Hello Baby’ baby shower range that is a design with pastel colours and gold foil detailing and includes partyware and balloons. Holly said that baby showers and gender reveals are becoming more popular than ever and a big trend for 2019!
