Balloon Basics 17 – How to make a Tulip Twist in a balloon

ENTER TEXT HERE

Welcome to this episode of Balloon Basics where Mark Drury shows us how to create a Tulip Twist!

A Tulip Twist is a little bubble in the end of the balloon, which is then turned back on itself so that you can’t see the knot.

It’s called a ‘Tulip Twist’ as it looks like a Tulip! You could create lots of them and make a little bunch.

You will need:

  • A hand pump
  • A 260Q balloon (in which ever colour you would like!)

To begin, add a small pump of air into your 260Q balloon using your hand pump so it’s about an inch long and then let a little bit of air out to make it easier to work with – this is called ‘burping’ the balloon (a balloon industry term that made me chuckle when I first heard it!). Then tie a knot in the end of your 260Q.

Next, we need to essentially push the knot through the balloon and grab it the other end!

Push the knot through the balloon with your index finger and grab it with your thumb and index finger the other end.

Then twist the knot! Try and get at least 4 full rotations.

To secure it, push the knot back inside the balloon.

And there you have it! A lovely little Tulip Twist.

Let us know if you have any questions, and if you make anything with a Tulip Twist please send us a photo, we’d love to see!

Happy twisting!
