Rose Gold Confetti Balloon Design with Chris Horne – BMTV 229

This week on BMTV we are joined by Chris Horne who demonstrates how to create a stunning Rose Gold Crystal Clearz, confetti filled design. With the Crystal Clearz balloons you cannot fill them with confetti and get them to stick just by static so Chris shows how you can fill them with confetti and make them stick using Hi-Float.

To begin with you need to remove the valve from the Pink Clearz balloon so you can get in to fill the balloon with the confetti. There is a Balloon Basics BMTV episode (Basics 42) where Chris demonstrates and explains the best way to remove the valve from a Clearz.

Once you have removed the valve you need to flatten out the Clearz balloon so you can then fill it with Hi-Float. Chris takes the balloon and feeds the neck of the Clearz onto the Hi-Float pump nozzle (it is recommended to use the one with the orange clip). You then need to push down the nozzle and do two squirts of the Hi-float and aim it into the middle of the balloon.

When filled with the Hi-float you need to spread it out, so it covers the whole of the inside of the balloon. The best way to do this is to use a plastic squeegee on the flattened balloon and push the Hi-float outwards from the centre, spreading it out evenly. You can see what parts of the balloon are covered in the Hi-float by inflating it with air and holding it up to the light.

Once you are happy that the inside is covered in the Hi-float you then need to take a balloon stretching tool and insert it into the neck of the balloon. Chris uses a 50g pack of 25mm metallic rose gold circle foil confetti for this design. For a guide when inflating a Clearz balloon to 22 inches, the balloon will be able to hold 85g of confetti.

You can then take the balloon and helium fill it, just up until the creases start to disappear. At this point you need to shake the confetti inside the balloon so it distributes evenly but also so that any loose bits in the middle will then move and stick to the Hi-float.

You can then finish filling it up with helium and then tie it at the neck. The best way to do this is to hold the bottom of the balloon with one hand (so the helium doesn’t escape) and then take the end of the neck of the balloon with the other hand and pull it downwards to stretch it so you have a longer neck to easily tie.

Chris then takes some metallic rose gold curling ribbon and some rose gold organza to add to the balloon. With the organza, he takes the roll and with the end creates two loops to make a bow shape and then ties some rose gold ribbon around it to secure, which will be tied to the neck of the balloon. From the bow he then leaves about a 40cm piece of organza for the balloon tail before then creating another bow which will be at the base of the design.

He ties one bow to the neck of a rose gold balloon weight using some more rose gold curling ribbon. He then adds a cluster of three rose gold 5-inch latex balloons around the weight which have been inflated to different sizes.

Then he secures the other bow end to the neck of the Clearz balloon with the rose gold ribbon, adding another cluster of 3 rose gold 5-inch latex balloons.

You can learn more about working with Clearz balloons on our Crystal Clearz Training Course with Chris Horne on Tuesday 2nd July 2019. For more information and to book onto the course click here.
