BMTV 34 – Sophisticated Tassel Tails and a Little Competition.

Competition time!

This week we start with a competition, if you can correctly guess who’s birthday it is on the 19th of September and are the first to put it in the comment section on YouTube, then we will send a 110g bar of Dairy Milk chocolate with your next order! We have a few clues to help you guess, this person is:

  • Male
  • Born in the 19th century
  • One of the pioneers of treating employees well
  • From Birmingham
  • Is responsible (in Greg’s opinion) for creating more joy and happiness in the world than any other person,
  • Even 100 after his death, his products are creating joy and happiness for millions of people around the world, every day!

Who am I?! Just put a comment in the comments section on YouTube if you know.

Dates for your calendar.

The 18th of September is also the kick off for the Rugby World Cup, if you need anything world cup related then we have the Gilbert Rugby Ball and the Official England Squad Jersey balloon. The day after, the 19th is talk like a pirate day and as you know we have a massive range of pirate-themed party supplies, foil and latex balloons. Breast Cancer awareness day is in October and we have the Pink Ribbon balloon for when the UK turns pink in support of the Breast Cancer charity. And of course November is Movember when men grow big moustaches in support of multiple charities.

New products

Bubble weights are great little weights that are heavy enough to hold down large balloons such as the Qualatex bubble balloon and the Anagram Orbz balloon. We have two colours that are not only new to us but new to the market, these are the Lilac and Purple bubble weights and they are supplied wither singularly or in bags of 25 for a better price.

Top Tassel Tail Tip

We are going to show you a tip for creating a cheap, but effective, tassel tail for any balloon. We have a red Amscan Orbz balloon here (with a red bubble weight to complete the look!) and are going to add a door curtain to the base. What you will need for this is balloon bond, double sided stick tape that is designed for balloons, and a door curtain from Amscan. The door curtains come in red, gold and silver but we are using red here to match our balloon. First you need to cut the door curtain to size, it is 3ft wide and you will only need a few inches for each tail which means you can get quite a few tails out of 1 door curtain! Next, stick two small squares of balloon bond to each side of the neck of the balloon, stick the curtain to one side and wrap it around the other side, securing it in place.

There you have it! Quick and simple, you may want to cut the length of the door curtain to the size of your ribbon or leave it long, it’s up to you. Another tip is if you use the same colour ribbon as the door curtain, then you can’t see the ribbon when the curtain is attached, giving the balloon a floating effect!

That’s it for this week! As a final note, Greg is off to climb Ben Nevis this weekend so say hello if you see him!
