In this week’s show Mark Drury from Qualatex is going to show us a few different methods of tying a foil balloon.
Method 1 – for giving to a customer
So inflate your foil balloon as normal, if you want two hands free to tie then you can sandwich the balloon between your body and a surface like a table. Place your ribbon half-way on the neck of the balloon and fold the neck over and roll the end all the way to the top of the balloon. Tie one or two knots in the ribbon to stop the neck unravelling and that all you need to do. This is a professional and secure knot that is suitable to give to a customer and just looks very tidy.
Method 2 – Keeping in your shop
Instead of rolling the neck around the ribbon like in method 1, create a loop with the ribbon and then pass it over on itself to create slipknot. Then fold the neck half-way over by itself and place the slipknot over the neck. You can then pull the ribbon to secure the slipknot. This isn’t a secure knot and isn’t suitable for going out to a customer but it has one major advantage that it can be undone easily. Just pull the neck of the balloon and the knot comes off, you can then re-inflate the balloon if it is looking sad and re-apply the slipknot. This is a great method of keeping the same balloon inflated as advertisement in your shop!
That’s it for this week, see you next time!
