Soap Rationing

We’ll start this week with a little Radio 2 style factoid. Did you know, on this date (September the 9th) soap rationing was lifted! It started in 1942 during the war and carried on till 1950, 5 years after the conflict!

Star Wars

Yes we go on about Star Wars all the time but there are some really great designs that we are genuinely excited about! The embargo on the new designs for The Force Awakens was lifted last week, a day which was labelled ForceFriday, and we got to see all the exciting new designs and shapes including a BB-8 balloon! The embargo wasn’t exclusive to the balloon and party industry but was on everything, including toys; we saw a remote control Millennium Falcon drone that you can fly around and now everyone in the office wants one! One design we didn’t mention was the Qualatex bubble balloon featuring all the characters from the new Star Wars film including Rey, Finn, Poe and Kylo Ren. Also on the horizon, is a double-bubble featuring a death star as the inside shape! This is an old school Star Wars design as opposed to the new The Force Awakens themes but we are really excited to stock it in the future!

Hot Air Balloon Net

Rachel our resident balloon decorator has taken advantage of one of our Hot Air Balloon Nets to create this unique balloon decoration for a customer! She created this using a 3 foot balloon inflated with helium and put it inside a hot-air balloon net with an attached basket to complete the effect. You can fill this with 60%-40% helium to air if you were looking to reduce helium cost but as this is a unique and creative decoration, customers will be willing to spend a little more on it!

Desks For Sale

You may have spoken to Megan if you’ve ever range the office for an enquiry, well her Mum works for a company that has recently changed premises. They got a whole load of new desks and chairs in so we bought some of their old stock. We needed a few desks anyway but we now have some left over, never to miss an opportunity we are sticking them on Gumtree! If you are in the Southampton area and have need of any good quality office furniture like desks, chairs, draws and pedestals then check out our gumtree add and we’ll see what we can do.

Balloon Tree

This week we are doing a product demonstration for a balloon tree, these are used mostly at fairs or events to have latex or even foil balloons ready inflated on balloon sticks, ready to hand out. They come in a box and can be carried around quite easily and they are light-weight and sturdy. To assemble the balloon tree first take the two base legs that are both labelled with a 1 and clip them together, do the same with the legs labelled 2.

You end up with two long pieces that slot together to create a Christmas tree like stand. Take one of the tubes and slot it into the base, take a connector and slot it in the top of the tube. The tubes each have 8 holes for sloting balloons on sticks into and can be rotated as you see fit!

Keep repeating the process, alternating the tubes and connectors until all 5 of the tubes are in place. Top the balloon tree with the small plastic cap and you’re done! Simple and takes no time at all, even assembling a 4 or 5 of these will only take you a few minutes and you can easily adjust the rotation of each tube. The stand packs down just as easily so a great additionting up a stand at an event or having those balloons read to give out in your shop.
