Hello and welcome to episode 67 of BMTV.
There are a few different events coming up in the next couple of months, to start with we have Graduation. This is happening from right now till the end of the summer so getting stock in for it will go a long way. We have a variety of items on offer and some new ones this year including photo booth props with a graduation theme, “look out world” & “you did it” balloons. We also have graduation confetti and this mortarboard ribbon banner which measures 5.5ft in length and you can move the mortarboards up and down to fit your space. Check out our Grad section for the full range
The next event is Father’s Day on June 19th. We have quite a few great new designs this year this two-sided “World’s Greatest Dad” balloon from Anagram. Also new to us are this couple from Qualatex, a Father’s Day round foil that matches this large shape apron balloon. For this first time this year we are offering latex balloon for Father’s Day, you could create a bunch of balloons for a customer rather than the traditional single foil. We have a 50 pack Happy Father’s Day balloons from Qualatex and this 25 bag of You Are My Father balloons, that’s right Star Wars themed!
The Queen is having another birthday! We had her real birthday last week but on the 12 – 15 May the Queen is having her 90th birthday celebrations. Also on June 11 she is having her official birthday and the day after that is the patron’s lunch. It is safe to say there’s going to be a lot of patriotic events going on and we have the full range of bunting, flags, napkins, plates, confetti, balloons, cups aaaand we’ve got hand flags both in 72 and 6 packs. Find all these products in our British section.
Now onto something serious. We had a customer call up yesterday and ask for balloon release equipment, we said we don’t sell that as we don’t support balloon releases. We haven’t supported them for a while now basically because of the danger they propose to the environment. Take a look at our Balloon Release blog for more in-depth reasons why we don’t support them and the alternatives to releasing balloons. We would like to encourage you to consider telling your customers of these alternatives and say no to balloon releases.
Speaking of alternatives, one popular thing to do is to put raffle tickets inside balloons, drop them and have people stand on the balloons to retrieve the tickets. This creates a lot of excitement but how do you get the tickets into the balloon in the first place? One way would be to do it by hand and stretch the necks of the balloons out with your fingers, this can often be difficult but we have a quick tip for doing this easily involving Castration Pliers, yes you heard that right! These are cheap tools that cost around £6 and are designed for stretching elastic bands for, well, you know… You can use them by putting the neck of the balloon onto the tool, squeezing the handle to open the neck. You can put the ticket into the balloon and you don’t even have to bend the ticket. Simple!
That’s it for this week, thanks for watching and we’ll see you next time.
Rob
