BMTV 73 – Product Test: Twinklelites & MicroAir Inflator

First thing this week is to say thank you to Lisa, she is one of our customers that got an amazing gig last weekend to celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday. Lisa twisted balloons and modelled them into crowns and even a mini-Queen, she got them onto good morning Britain and Richard Arnold is even following her on twitter now so well done! Thanks for sending in those images Lisa and take a look at some of her great creations.

New products

New products this week include these paper confetti that would be great for putting into balloons or throwing at people. We also have more of the Qualatex wedding flyers that show of what you can do with Qualatex balloons for a wedding, they include a full colour chart that you could show to couples and a space for your contact details. If you want to try one of these out, then put “free wedding flyer please” into the comments section as you go through checkout when placing your order. We have had this fuchsia ribbon from Eleganza for a while but Rachel has started to notice that it doesn’t match some of the more hot-pink balloons as much as it could. It is still a great colour ribbon but we decided to get in this hot-pink ribbon from Qualatex as well and run the two side-by-side.

Twinklelites

Now onto the Twinklelites, we have had similar products to these in the past but have never liked the quality of them till now. These are small plastic orbs that you can put inside balloons that light up with a slow and steady twinkle pattern. These are also waterproof and buoyant and would look great floating in some sort of water feature.

New electric inflator

The standard electric inflator that we’ve sold for years is this green and purple stunner. This has two nozzles for inflation but if you only need the one; we have now introduced the MicroAir inflator that is around 25% cheaper. To test it out we have devised a standard test of inflating a 3ft balloon to 2ft and timing how long it takes. The MicroAir clocked in at around 15 seconds to inflate to 2 feet, we will be testing out all our inflators with this method to see which is the quickest! Keep an eye out for this in the future.

Making the most of clear printed balloons

Next is a quick tip for maximising the effectiveness of clear printed latex balloons. We had a customer who wanted the “Just Married” balloons in black but the bags only come from Qualatex in black and silver. We suggested that they use the “Just Married” clear latex balloons with black balloons inside and this wasn’t something that they had thought about before. I have to admit that I didn’t think about this for years after working here but it’s so simple when you think about it! What you do is use a balloon stick to insert any colour balloon you want into a clear printed latex balloon and inflate the inside balloon. You can then coordinate your print with just about any colour that is available and the clear latex balloon will even give the balloon a vibrant shine!

That’s it for this week, see you next time!
