Hello all! Another interview in The Balloon Market Blog has arrived, so get ready to learn all the facts about one of our lovely team members!
For today’s talk, we’re back in the warehouse once again to have a chat with picking, packing and shortage extraordinaire: it’s Eirlys! Originally joining us in the Customer Support team, Eirlys then ventured out in a more warehouse orientated role as she continued to grow her animal chiropractor business! So, if you’d like to learn more about that, here’s what Eirlys has to say!
On the Meet the Team page, you’ve listed a fun fact about yourself. Tell us more about that!
My fun fact is that I’m an animal chiropractor! I qualified at the end of 2021, so I trained the entire time I was working in the office. And now I’m growing my business, which is why I’ve switched over to the warehouse as it’s a lot more flexible with my hours. I primarily treat dogs and horses, but I also worked with a cat recently! Apparently a cat has the exact same spinal formula as a dog, but they just have longer vertebrae. There’s another fun fact for you!
What do you enjoy most about working at Balloon Market?
I really like how varied it is, every day is different. I LOVE looking at all the different balloons we have; I’m obsessed with all the cute little animal foils. And everyone is super nice here, you can come in and talk to anyone about anything, it’s all very relaxed.
Do you have a favourite product that we stock?
The red panda foil balloon from Grabo! I actually saw it in person a minute ago and it’s just the best. The way it’s got its little hands up in front… I can’t deal with it! I actually met a red panda at Longleat; it was one of those experience days where you could feed them. When I fed one, he put his hand on my hand and I cried! They’re so gentle!
What noise bothers you the most?
This is going to be very niche. I went to watch ‘Knock At The Cabin’ at the cinema recently, and there’s a lot of heavy breathing in that movie… and I really don’t like the heavy breathing. The cinema was so quiet and Dave Bautista was breathing SO loud; I almost had to leave! If someone was sat next to me breathing heavily, I think I’d be fine, but when you’re sat in the dark watching something, it’s all you can focus on. Horrendous!
What’s the No.1 thing on your bucket list?
My No.1 thing… I really want to build my own animal rehab centre. It would have a little yard, a water treadmill for the dogs, a swimming pool and then we can go from there! I think I’d need a lot of money for it though. Dogs, horses, maybe the odd cow now and again. Who knows?
What’s your favourite kind of food?
Asian food, I love it! Specifically dumplings and wontons. When I went to New Zealand before Christmas, I met up with my Chinese uncle and he showed me how to make homemade wontons. They were the BEST things I’ve ever eaten. Crispy, salty, amazing! There was pork, prawn and vegetable ones; all of them were great!
What mythical creature would you most want to be real?
A Kitsune! It looks like a fox with more tails, it’s usually found in anime. They get more tails as they get wiser. I just think they’re really cute, you could snuggle up with one and have its tails wrapped around you. I was originally going to go with a narwhal… but I keep forgetting they’re actually real!
Is there something that most people like that you don’t?
I don’t get The Masked Singer, the TV show. I see clips when they’re trying to reveal who it is by taking off their heads or whatever, it goes on for like ten minutes! Just take it off already! It’s so bad.
Do you have any good movie recommendations?
Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron! I used to watch this movie all the time when I was a kid, and I’ve got it on DVD but I don’t have a DVD player! So when I found it on Netflix the other day, I was so happy! Bryan Adams does the soundtrack and Matt Damon voices Spirit. It’s really upsetting but you feel good by the end, teaches kids about… invasion, I guess? The animation is so good, a horse is very difficult to animate and they did it really well.
Do you have a question for the readers?
‘If you could be any type of dog, what breed would you be and why?’
Thank you for this week’s chat, Eirlys! Now, I’m very comfortable as a human being. Dogs are great for sure, but would I want to be one? Probably not. But, as our resident Blogologist, I have to provide an answer here. I’d likely go for a short haired dog; my own dog’s fur gets insanely matted and I don’t know how she deals with it. I’m torn between a Shiba Inu or a Great Dane. Would I prefer to be an adorable pup or Scooby-Doo? I can’t decide.
Let us know your answers to this week’s question below! See you all next time!
