Another day, another entry in The Balloon Market Blog! Always a great place to learn more about our super cool team members working here at BM HQ!
Today’s guest is Andrew from the Warehouse Team! Whether it’s picking, packing or doing end of day checks, Andrew always manages to bring an efficient energy when things get busy throughout the day. Let’s have a talk about his likes, dislikes and more!
On the Meet the Team page, you’ve listed a fun fact about yourself. Tell us more about that!
The fun fact is that I’ve put around 1,600 hours into a game series known as the ‘Souls’ series. There’s quite a few of them, I think it’s technically now 6 games in total? If I had to make a guess, I’ve probably put the most time into Dark Souls 3 specifically; on one character alone I think I have like 400 hours. I’ve put in tons of time to rack up that much in each game, there’s a sense of replayability to it where you can create a brand new character and do a completely different build to said character.
What do you enjoy most about working at Balloon Market?
I actually ended up going for our BM HQ ‘Question of the Week’! I do like how it’s unique each time, and you get to know more about people and their thought processes. It also means afterwards you can discuss each other’s answers and open up conversations between the teams.
Do you have a favourite product that we stock?
Confetti cannons! You can never have enough confetti cannons in your life. I actually bought one for New Year’s Eve and surprised everyone with it… may have accidentally scared a few people too.
What’s your most enduring pet peeve?
Adding small snarky comments when they aren’t necessary. Whenever you get corrected on something or are told off and get a little extra comment made about it… it’s so annoying. Thankfully I’m not fussed about much else!
What’s the No.1 thing on your bucket list?
I don’t actually have a bucket list! I haven’t really gone out of my way to plan anything; the only thing that’s come up recently is that I’ve been getting back into Airsoft. I really enjoy it, so I wouldn’t mind owning a business selling gear and whatnot related to it. Maybe having a field itself for people to play on too!
What’s your favourite kind of food?
Has to be pasta. Can’t go wrong with pasta because you can do so much with it. It’s amazing; if I could convert anyone to love pasta, I would. You can literally chuck anything into it and you can end up with something tasty. You have the chef-y talk of ‘less is more’, so you can just do tomatoes and olive oil and it’ll taste great. Pasta all the way.
What’s the biggest crowd you have ever been in?
When I saw this question, I was thinking along the lines of concerts and stuff, but I haven’t really been to many of those. So after thinking up other crowded areas, I remembered that I have been to Disneyland and Universal Studios; can’t tell you which one was more crowded though. They’re always busy!
Is there something that most people like that you don’t?
I came up with both Game of Thrones AND Stranger Things. I gave ST a chance a bit more than GOT: they just weren’t interesting enough for me, surprisingly. There are little bits here and there that I’ve seen and thought were pretty cool, but in general a bunch of it seems like filler.
Do you have any good recommendations?
A TV series that I love is Lucifer, albeit there’s the odd episode that wasn’t great, but overall I really liked it and would highly recommend; watch it if you haven’t!
Do you have a question for the readers?
‘If you could own your own business, what business would it be?’
Thank you for the talk, Andrew! Now, many of you out there may already be business owners, but guess what… I’m not! Owning your own business is quite the daunting undertaking, so if I was to pick one to call my own, it’d have to tie closely in with a something I’m passionate about. I’d have to go with my own independent cinema, along the lines of The Prince Charles Cinema in London, where you’d have niche screenings and double features mixed in with the traditional wider releases!
Let us know your answers to this week’s question below! See you all next time!
