The Balloon Market Blog is THE premier place to read all about the goings-on behind the scenes at BM HQ, featuring a variety of conversations with our lovely team members. And guess what? You’re reading one of those posts RIGHT NOW. How exciting!

For our next guest, we’re heading back into the office to have a chat with another member of our ever-busy customer support team… and that person is Charlotte! Along with helping out our customers with any queries they might have, Charlotte also lends a hand with our various Balloon Market social media channels. Be sure to have a look at our most recent posts after reading this exclusive interview!

On the Meet the Team page, you’ve listed a fun fact about yourself. Tell us more about that!

In 2017, I entered the National Young Writer Award and I won it, surprisingly! I don’t know how many people it was, but I was shortlisted down to around 200, and they took us all up to London for it. They changed the name of my story though, so I didn’t think I’d won at first until some people told me! I can technically say I’m a published writer now, as the winner got their story published!

What do you enjoy most about working at Balloon Market?

It might sound really cliché, but it has to be the customers! I think our customers are great to talk to; I talk to them on live chat, on the phone, social media, emails, everything! We deal with a wide range of people and a lot of them really make your day! It’s validating when you’re able to help them out with something.

Do you have a favourite product that we stock?

I add stuff to my basket constantly, so my favourites change a lot! Right now, it’s the PartyDeco Triceratops, but I also really like the HootyBalloo Sprinkle Candles. It’s my birthday soon so that’s what I’m going to add to my cake!

Do you share a birthday with anyone famous?

So many famous people… you’ve got Chuck Norris, Sharon Stone, Carrie Underwood, Olivia Wilde. I was a big fan of Hannah Montana when I was a kid, and her friend Lilly (played by Emily Osment) also shares my birthday!

What’s the No.1 thing on your bucket list?

I’m obsessed with volcanoes. I really want to go to Yellowstone, but I want to see a live volcano the most; perhaps even experience a volcanic eruption! There’s a good documentary on Netflix that came out recently called ‘The Volcano: Rescue from Whakaari’, about this cruise ship that went to an island near New Zealand and whilst they were on it, the volcano erupted!

What’s your favourite kind of food?

I’m a massive foodie, but my go-to is definitely katsu curry; it’s my one weakness in life. Anywhere I go, if it’s on the menu, I’m having it! Thing is, no one in my house likes them: I make an awesome katsu curry and nobody wants to eat it! Wagamama is obviously the best place for it, although All Bar One also do a really nice one too!

What’s a place you will never go to again?

I have an oddly specific answer for this one. I was struggling with this question, so I asked my mum and she reminded me of when I went to see the musical ‘Hamilton’ in London. I would happily see the show again, however we were sat up in the balcony… and we were up SO high. I couldn’t even walk down to my seat without hanging onto something because I was terrified! My mum’s an adrenaline junkie and it was even too much for her!

Is there something that most people like that you don’t?

Anything to do with summer! I hate the beach, the heat: summer time is my No.1 enemy. I don’t get people who, at the hottest point in the year, go to sit on the beach and just… burn? It’s horrible. I went to Greece last year, and I wasn’t sure if I wanted to go or not at first, as it was a resort ON the beach. We ended up there every single day, but at least I had a book to distract myself with! As well as the all-inclusive bar…

Do you have any good TV recommendations?

I am THE person for recommendations. Whenever someone needs something to watch, read or listen to, I’ve got it. We’ll stick with TV shows: Ted Lasso, The White Lotus, The Last of Us, The Outer Banks. Succession is my favourite and that’s coming back soon. So much to watch!

Do you have a question for the readers?

‘What TV show are you really enjoying right now?’

Big thanks to Charlotte for this week’s chat! When it comes to TV shows, you’ve really got to pick and choose what you commit your time to. My watchlist is seemingly never-ending nowadays, so selecting a new show is always difficult for me. But this year, I finally began Twin Peaks, after it was recommended to me almost 5 years ago now. Can’t say it’s for everyone, but I’m really enjoying myself! Such a strangely engaging watch.

Let us know your answers to this week’s question below! See you all next time!
