If you’re reading this, you’ve managed to find another entry in The Balloon Market Blog… congratulations! Feel free to stay a while, kick up your feet and read our collection of staff interviews…

We’ve got another keen warehouse worker this week, and this guy is truly a ‘Jack’ of all trades! With duties such as picking, packing, stock taking and even the odd piece of computer advice, Jack has a wealth of skills to always help out the BM team. Let’s hear what he has to say…

On the Meet the Team page, you’ve listed a fun fact about yourself. Tell us more about that!

If I recall, my fun fact was that I build PC’s. I’ve done that since I was young: anything tech is kind of my niche. When there’s any problems here at work, that’s something I like trying to fix. I’ve spent FAR too much money over the last… we’ll say 10 years. I wouldn’t really like to see that number written down; I think I’d probably have a breakdown. At the moment it’s mainly just a gaming machine, because I lost all of my editing software when I reformatted it.

What do you enjoy most about working at Balloon Market?

That’s a tough one, because it varies day to day. Sometimes I’m in the mood for getting up and around the Warehouse, and other days I quite like the idea of packing orders at my bench. There’s nothing better than finding the perfect box for a customer’s order and all of it sitting in there perfectly. That’s not always the case, but it’s the most satisfying part when it happens.

Do you have a favourite product that we stock?

I’ve used up most of my allowance recently because I’ve started doing resin projects. I do like using the metallic leaf flakes… though they are a bit of a pain to open as they end up going everywhere! Glitter is also good for resin; I’ve enjoyed having a look around the warehouse for different things to use.

If you could live in a different decade, which one would it be and why?

I’ve gone for 1960s, just for the music and festivals; I think the atmosphere would be quite good. I’m a massive fan of The Beatles, so being able to see them would be brilliant. Would also love to see The Rolling Stones, The Doors etc. I wouldn’t even mind going to see certain people solo, as well.

What’s the No.1 thing on your bucket list?

Travelling. I’ve only gone to Spain and Lanzarote so far, but I am going to France later this year, so that will be fun. To go and see places like Machu Picchu in Peru would be great, going to various places that not many people would go to. For now, I’ll start in Europe and then move out to the scarier places.

What’s your favourite kind of food? Is there a restaurant that you love to go to?

I do love a cheeky kebab, especially after a few beers on a Friday night. My absolute favourite place to go is Hythe Kebab Centre. It’s amazing, I went in there so much because I used to live right around the corner, about a 2 minute walk. They knew me by name, which may not be a good thing honestly. I always spend too much money and end up putting on too much weight every time I’m there. I go for doner meat, cheesy chips, garlic mayo all over it, with all the salad… and then feel bloated afterwards.

What TV quiz show would you have the best chance of winning?

It’d have to be The Chase. I think I would be very good at standing up against The Beast; if he tried to patronise me, I’d be having none of it. I think I’m quite good at trivia, so I’d be able to get through the first round and probably end up losing in the final. They always go crazy in that last round!

Is there something that most people like that you don’t?

People that eat pears on their own, I think that’s unforgivable. Imagine someone sitting eating an apple, that makes sense. But someone eating a pear like that… that’s weird. If it’s a pear in like a fruit salad or something, that would be ok. It makes me sound horrible, but I can’t fathom doing that at all.

Do you have any good TV recommendations?

Anyone who hasn’t seen Breaking Bad… needs to watch Breaking Bad; that’s fantastic. I’d also say Game of Thrones but maybe not the ending. If you really wanted to watch Game of Thrones, go for Seasons 1-4, anything after that is up to you. As soon as it gets to Season 7 or 8, it’s not for me. I get really upset talking about that show…

Do you have a question for the readers?

‘What is your all-time favourite TV series?’

Thanks for this week’s chat, Jack! What I won’t thank you for is leaving me with the tough task of deciding what my favourite TV show is. There’s SO much I want to suggest, but whittling it down to only one… it’ll have to be It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia: has been going for almost 20 years now and still remains one of the funniest and most memorable shows for me.

Let us know your answers to this week’s question below! See you all next time!
