Tassel Garlands

You’ve only got to glance through Pinterest to see that giant balloons are trending (see our previous blog on Wedding Trends – Balloons). Having grown enormously in popularity over the last couple of years, particularly for weddings, demand for accessories such as tassel tails is high.

Last year, I spent a morning having a go at making my own tassel tail from tissue paper. It was fairly easy but labour-some and time-consuming to say the least. I was quite pleased with the result, however, it quickly became apparent that it wasn’t going to be something I’d be doing on a regular basis or on a larger scale.

Whilst handmade will always be extra special, not every consumer is prepared to pay the price required to make it worthwhile. I’ve been on the lookout ever since for an ‘off-the-shelf’ and more affordable (in terms of time and money) solution and I have to say, I’m quite pleased with my findings…

Here’s a picture of a tassel tail decoration created by Chris Horne of Amscan at this year’s Spring Fair.

Drumroll please! Let me introduce the new tassel garlands currently available in bright pink, royal blue and white! More colours are on order and will follow soon.

Weighing approximately 112g, you will need at least a 24” helium-filled latex balloon to lift it.  Each tassel is made of tissue paper and measures approximately 23cm/11” in length. Approximately 18 are threaded onto the 3m/10’ ribbon of a co-ordinating colour. Use the whole garland or take tassels off to decrease weight/length or to add just one to a smaller balloon with less lift ability.

Tassel garlands can also be used to great effect when creating balloon banners as well to add colour and interest to candy carts and buffet tables.

I just love the versatility of these tassel garlands and can see them being a bit hit.
